Reimagined with integrity

Developing a Northern Quarter icon the way only a local developer can.

Designed and built by controversial architect Richard Seifert who was shaping the London skyline, this landmark of Manchester’s Northern Quarter had remained untouched since its construction in the 1960s.

It has always been our intention in the acquisition of this site to breath new life into the iconic Hilton House and add value to the Northern Quarter. A site purposely built in the ‘swinging 60s’ to be the home of Manchester Polytechnic’s lighting and drama department, the site has throughout the decades been a hub of art and fashion. Redesigned with a nod to the building’s heritage, key features such as the breathtaking staircase and parquet flooring throughout have been restored and juxtaposed with new additions such as the stunning floating oversized steel reception desk and iguzzini inspired wall lighting.

Air conditioning, floor to ceiling windows and bike storage facilities have upgraded the space whilst ceilings have been stripped back to exposed brickwork and terracotta tiles. We retained the artworks at either side of the building, created as part of the Cities of Hope project in 2016 and furthermore celebrates these striking pieces by telling the story around their creation and concept.

  • Centrally located within Manchester's creative district
  • Original features restored throughout the building
  • Surrounded by culture and infrastructure

Today Hilton House is our head office and home to some of Manchester’s most creative and disruptive businesses, including Softwire who occupy the second floor.

During 2021 Hilton House welcomed new tenants Hawkins Brown, an award winning architect who are spear heading the Employee Ownership movement, as well as consultancy business Grayce who have moved into the city to expand their space and reach.

Following the basement redevelopment, Manchester-born Gym operator Train Urban took up residence providing one to one and group training with some of the City’s top performing trainers within our work life hub.

Hilton House is located in the heart of the Northern Quarter, one of Manchester’s most vibrant and sought after neighbourhoods.

Just off Piccadilly Gardens, the Northern Quarter has rapidly expanded over the last decade to home independents, street artists, creative businesses and a bohemian culture.

Its well connected transport links are part of the appeal, with Piccadilly train station on the southern fringe of the Northern Quarter, Manchester Victoria train station to the north and Shudehill Metrolink a short stroll from Stephenson Square.
